Shawn Andrews Had Lumbar Microdiscectomy with Dr. Robert Watkins III

I feel like I was pretty lucky to have Dr. Watkins III help me out with my back problem since he has a lot of experience with injuries such as the one that I had. He was very professional and thorough and I greatly respect the work he does at the Marina Spine Center.

I got injured during a game. I always joke that it’s worth it if we win. However, with this specific injury, I was physically incapable of playing anymore. It was scary. On two separate occasions, I had injections that were supposed to help alleviate the pain, but it just did not happen. It was time to seriously address the issue and so I had an appointment scheduled at the Marina Spine Center with Dr. Watkins III.

He was incredible. He told me right off the bat that I would most likely have to have surgery on my back and then follow a rehabilitation program for maybe three months to ensure the success of the operation. Dr. Watkins was the one that performed the surgery. I had a herniated disc that needed medical attention and it went great.
