What type of physical activity is recommended after discectomy?

Following discectomy, there are certain activities that should be avoided and others that are recommended. Your doctor will tell you everything you need to know about them before you are discharged.

In order to achieve a fast recovery, it is important to follow the doctor’s aftercare recommendations and make sure the activities you perform are proper for your recovery stage.

After discectomy, you are allowed, and, in fact, it’s recommended to walk regularly. You should do this every day after you are discharged. Physical therapy will also help you recover faster. If you feel discomfort or pain while engaging in some activities, slow down or stop performing them because your body gives you signs that it’s not safe to go on.
