What is diabetes? What measures could help me control my blood sugar levels?
When an individual suffers from diabetes it means that the glucose is not transported to the cells, it remains in his/her blood.
Depending on the type of diabetes the patient suffers from blood sugar levels can be controlled either with insulin injections or dietary modifications.
Diabetes type 1 is insulin-dependent meaning that the body cannot make enough insulin. Type 2 diabetes is not insulin-dependent, so the body can produce insulin, but the tissues are resistant to its actions.
Patients suffering from diabetes type 1 require daily insulin injections. Those suffering from diabetes type 2 require weight loss and permanent dietary modification and regular exercise.
