What are the best candidates for facial reconstruction surgery?

Patients who suffer from facial skin cancer, patients with face injuries or birth defects, are the usual candidates for this procedure.

Patients with cancer on their face including sensitive areas such as the nose, lips, ears, and eyelids, may be candidates for coordinated care between the Mohs dermatologists and a plastic surgeon.

Usually, the Mohs surgery takes place one day, and the facial reconstructive surgery will be performed the next day. There are other conditions that may be treated with this procedure, such as cleft lip or palate, Apert syndrome, craniosynostosis, and physical injury.
