Should I follow a special diet during hemodialysis?

Your doctor will tell you everything you need to know about the lifestyle changes you need to adhere to prior to hemodialysis, including your dietary needs.

During hemodialysis, you need a diet that is rich in vitamins and proteins. Your diet should allow you to control your blood pressure. Normal blood pressure is linked to a healthy immune system that is ideal during hemodialysis and to lower infection risks.

Include plenty of fruit and vegetables in your daily meals and try to avoid salty foods, too many carbohydrates, and highly processed foods.

Your fluid intake is also essential during hemodialysis. Your doctor will late you know what the necessary amount of fluids is based on our individual needs.
