Arian Foster Had Lumbar Microdiscectomy with Dr.

I was very interested in the whole minimally invasive type of intervention. It's quite different from your typical open surgery. There isn't that much bleeding, there is barely any noticeable scars and you heal a lot quicker than in the case of more traditional surgery.

I had some back issues and I met with Dr. Robert Watkins to explore my options. I had heard of him before and he was my first choice when it came to starting any kind of treatment that would involve my spine. He told me pretty early on into the consultation that I would have to have surgery and I did. Dr. Watkins performed what is called a microscopic lumbar discectomy, which maybe sounds more intimidating than it actually is.

What he basically did was remove a herniated disc to ease pressure on my spine. He told me that it would take care of the pain that I was experiencing. The surgery went well. The procedure is minimally invasive, which means that there isn’t much cutting going on, there isn’t much blood loss and so the healing process obviously takes a much shorter time than the typical open surgery.
