Neel P. Shah, M.D.
Having completed extensive training in minimally invasive, reconstructive, and microscopic surgery, Dr. Neel P. Shah is one of the orthopedic spine surgeons who are currently affiliated with Cedars-Sinai Marina del Rey Hospital. He is devoted to employing only the most advanced, well-established procedures and the least intrusive treatment alternatives feasible. The physician takes a personalized approach with his patients, guiding them to make the best choices possible for their particular circumstances with the objective of reducing pain, regaining function, and reestablishing an optimal quality of life.
Dr. Shah attended medical school in New York City after graduating from Northwestern University with a degree in Biomedical Engineering. He earned his Doctor of Medicine from SUNY Downstate College of Medicine in Brooklyn in 2010. The physician was the winner of the Christopher Paldives, MD Award, which recognizes the outstanding medical student pursuing a career in orthopedic surgery. Dr. Shah completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Rutgers University in Newark, NJ. He subsequently completed a highly sought-after spinal surgery residency at New England Baptist Hospital, where he was part of mixed orthopedics and neurosurgical program.
His research has focused on the efficacy of minimally invasive spine surgery, perioperative patient optimization, pre-operative, and post-operative pain management, and effective non-operative management of spinal disorders. Dr. Neel P. Shah is the author of numerous book chapters. His work has been presented at international meetings and he has been published in numerous journals. In 2017, the physician received the Doctor's Choice Award. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and a member of the North American Spine Society.
