John F. Fleming III, M.D.
Dr. John F. Fleming III is one of the orthopedic surgeons who are currently affiliated with Cedars-Sinai Marina del Rey Hospital. He received his medical degree from the University of California San Diego School of Medicine and he specializes in minimally invasive surgical techniques that reduce trauma, blood loss, and healing time. The physician is Chief of Spinal Reconstruction. As a child, he spent his days at his mother's workplace, a chiropractor's office on the south side of Chicago. The chiropractor listened, cared, and helped everyone that came through her door, which inspired Dr. John H. Fleming III to want to make that kind of impact someday as well. He ultimately chose to specialize in orthopedic spine surgery because of its unique and profound capacity to improve the lives of his patients.
Dr. John F. Fleming III is specially trained in a relatively new form of minimally invasive spine surgery known as the MidLIF (Midline Lumbar Interbody Fusion). It uses advanced imaging to decrease incision size and minimize the amount of internal surgery necessary to achieve spinal fusion. He has also had advanced training in the side-body incision technique of Lateral Lumbar Interbody Fusion, which avoids dissecting large amounts of muscles from the back. These options are combined with traditional open surgery to find the best-fit operation for each individual. The orthopedic surgeon also has a Bachelor's degree in Philosophy, which he earned Magna Cum Laude from the University of Southern California in 2011. Before practicing medicine in California, Dr. John F. Fleming III had a medical license for Kentucky. He has approximately 10 years of professional experience.
