Since graduating in 2005, Dr. Hooman Melamed has continued expanding his skills and continuously learning and evolving as a doctor and surgeon by traveling to South America, Asia, and different areas of the United States to observe other well-known and respected spine surgeons. He can treat a variety of spinal conditions, such as scoliosis and other deformities or issues related to the cervical, lumbar, or thoracic area. The surgeon believes in treating the patient as a whole, in a holistic manner, and not just their spine. As Founder of The Spine Pro and highly regarded orthopedic spine surgeon, Dr. Hooman Melamed has been the recipient of the Super Doctor award and the Castle Connolly's Top Doctor award multiple years in a row.
In addition to his surgical skills, he is often invited to collaborate as a medical expert to programs such as Dr. Oz, The Doctors, and Fox News. The surgeon specializes in minimally invasive, as well as microscopic spinal surgery and is on the vanguard of cutting-edge treatments involving non-surgical cell therapy with PRP and bone marrow, artificial disc replacement, and alternative treatment options for traditional fusion surgeries. Dr. Hooman Melamed has also developed a unique patent-pending approach to treating people without narcotics, and most surgeries are performed on an outpatient basis, with the patient going home the same day of their surgery. He serves as Director of Scoliosis at Cedars-Sinai Marina del Rey Hospital. The physician is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and a member of the Scoliosis Research Society.
Dr. Hooman Melamed has published multiple peer-reviewed papers. He has presented his research before the North American Spine Society, the Congress for Neurological Surgeons, the Scoliosis Research Society, the Cervical Spine Research Society, and the International Meeting on Advanced Spine Techniques. Some of these include the Wild Animal Sanctuary, the Wildlife Conservation Society, the African Wildlife Foundation, the German Shepherd Rescue, the LA Cougar Project, and KCIS (Keep Children In School).
