Dr. Korman Discusses Scarless Obesity Surgery on KFI

Marina surgeon Dr. Jeremy Korman describes a new kind of weight loss surgery that doesn't leave scars.

Dr. Jeremy Korman went on KFI-AM radio to discuss a new type of weight-loss surgery performed without incisions, leaving no scarring. During the procedure, the surgeon places a tube down the esophagus to "staple" the stomach, making it smaller so the patient feels full with less food.

The procedure does not involve incisions to the abdomen, which means that the muscle doesn't need to heal and the patient can recover more quickly. "This procedure is at least a year away from availability to the public," - Dr. Korman said; "however, studies on about 300 patients around the world look promising."
