Mets' David Wright Seeks Rehab Help from Dr. Watkins
Wright’s back had been bothering him since he made a diving tag on Houston’s Carlos Lee during a game April 19 at Citi Field.
Mets third baseman David Wright is eager to get back on the field and is hoping a trip to Los Angeles on Monday for an examination with noted back specialist Dr. Robert Watkins will help. The Mets’ star hit the DL before last Wednesday’s game after an MRI exam revealed a stress fracture in his lower back. “This is part of the process, it’s just a matter of doing what we can to get back on the field, and this is the next step. This isn’t necessarily a second opinion, it’s part of the process in getting better,” Wright said.
He kept playing through the injury, even though he had struggled at the plate, until the Mets pressed him to have the MRI exam last Monday. Wright was shocked to learn the outcome and is eligible to return on May 31.
