Hackett Follows Rehabilitation Program with Dr. Watkins

Hackett will not need surgery and is expected to begin a rehabilitation program to strengthen his core on Tuesday.

Southern California guard Daniel Hackett went to see Dr. Robert G. Watkins at the Marina Spine Center on Monday for the diagnosis. He has been diagnosed with a stress fracture in his lower back, the school announced late Monday.

However, the sophomore will not need surgery and is expected to begin a rehabilitation program to strengthen his core on Tuesday. So far, there is no timetable for his return. Hackett has averaged 9.4 points and 3.9 rebounds in 22 games for the 15-8 Trojans, who will host sixth-ranked UCLA on Sunday. He also leads the team with 79 assists.
