Dr. Daniel Marcus on The Doctors

Dr. Marcus was featured on an episode of “The Doctors” on Tuesday, May 14th, 2013. This episode is titled “Problems You Usually Keep Behind Closed Doors UNTIL NOW!”

Dr. Daniel Marcus, a laparoscopic and robotic surgeon at Cedars-Sinai Marina del Rey Hospital was featured in a recent episode of the NBC hit shot "The Doctors." The show features a team of medical professionals discuss a range of various health-related topics and answer questions from viewers who are too embarrassed to ask their own doctors.

In the recent episode, titled titled “Problems You Usually Keep Behind Closed Doors UNTIL NOW!” Dr. Marcus was invited as an expert guest physician to discuss abdominal hernias. The episode also features Cheryl, one of Dr. Marcus' patients who was suffering from an inguinal hernia. Cheryl was physically active and otherwise very healthy. At first the small lump between her leg and her groin gave her little trouble. Soon, however, she experienced discomfort and pain. At first she though it could be cancer but, in fact, it was a hernia.

In the past hernia procedures were performed using a large incision. New minimally invasive techniques, however, allow the surgeon to use only a few small incisions and long, thin instruments to complete the procedures. This usually reduces the patient's recovery time and lower the risk of complication.
