Andrews, 25, is expected to remain under Watkins' care before continuing his rehabilitation in Philadelphia sometime next week.
Andrews was injured while blocking for an extra point late in the first half against Dallas on September 15 and he has not played since. The Eagles' head trainer, Rick Burkholder, said that Andrews had twice received injections to treat the injury, but that after they failed to alleviate the symptoms, Andrews visited Watkins.
He would be out for at least 6 weeks and perhaps as long as 3 months following surgery to repair a herniated disk in his back. Surgery was performed Tuesday by noted back specialist Robert Watkins III at Marina Del Rey Hospital.
"Dr. Watkins gave us the 6-weeks-to-3-months category," Burkholder, the Eagles' head trainer said. "We've had that before, and guys will come back in 5 weeks or guys have taken 3 months."
