Why should I have cataract surgery?
If your cataract prevents you from seeing well and performing daily tasks, your physician will recommend you surgery.
Cataract is a condition which causes blurry vision and increases the glare from the light. Naturally, this will make it difficult for you to see properly and to carry out daily tasks. Similarly, if cataract interferes with another eye problem you have or if it prevents your ophthalmologist from examining your eyes thoroughly, surgery may be a good idea.
However, cataract is not a life-threatening condition and it can wait even several years before you decide to undergo surgery.
Nevertheless, if you find yourself in the following situation, it is better to consider cataract surgery: you can no longer perform your job, you have difficulty driving, you cannot properly read or watch TV, you have troubles cooking, shopping or taking medication, bright lights make it problematic for you to see.
