When is it necessary to call the doctor after congenital cardiac surgery?

Once you return home, watch out for any signs that might indicate complications.

Call the doctor if some of the following symptoms appear:

  • chest pain
  • wound drainage
  • redness or swelling at the incision site
  • fever
  • nausea
  • vomiting
  • constant fatigue
  • difficulty breathing
  • shortness of breath
  • palpitations
  • dizziness
  • abnormal skin color; bluish or grayish
