What to expect after the adenoidectomy surgery?

After the procedure, your child will be taken to the recovery room. This is where your child will wake up. Your child will stay in the recovery room for about an hour and will then be moved to a room in the nursing unit.

  • Don’t feed your child spicy or hot foods, or foods that are hard and crunchy for the first couple of weeks.
  • Cold liquids and desserts are soothing for your child’s throat.
  • Your child should stay away from demanding activities for one week after the surgery.
  • They may return to school in three to five days if they feel up to it and have the surgeon’s approval.
