What tests are required prior to the intervertebral disc excision surgery?

To understand whether you are a suitable candidate for intervertebral disc excision, your doctor will need to perform different tests.

Prior to intervertebral disc excision, you will have to go through several tests: X-rays, blood tests, electrocardiogram.

If the results of these tests show that you are suffering from a herniated disc, you might be a good candidate for this procedure.

Your doctor will also examine you and ask you a series of questions in order to understand how you feel and what symptoms you need to alleviate. Leg pain, weakness or numbness are also common indicators that the patient is eligible for this procedure.
