Before the surgery, you should discuss with your doctor about any ongoing medication. You might be required to stop taking certain drugs like blood thinners or aspirin.
You will not be allowed to eat or to drink several hours before the surgery.
The bowels have to be empty before this intervention so, you will probably be given an enema to cleanse the rectum.
You will receive anesthesia for this procedure and your doctor will tell you more about the associated risks.
