What should I avoid if I have a broken bone?

Some lifestyle changes are recommended if you want to enhance your recovery and help the bone heal faster.

  • avoid smoking because it makes the healing process last longer and it diminishes blood flow
  • avoid any medications such as anti-inflammatories unless your doctor prescribes them
  • keep your diabetes under control
  • avoid drinking alcohol because it impairs recovery and increases the risk of complications
