What should be avoided after lobectomy?

After any surgery, lobectomy included, some contraindications should be taken into account during the recovery period.

Your doctor will tell you all you need to know about the aftercare guidelines and the most common contraindications before you are discharged after undergoing lobectomy.

Some of the most common recommendations are:

  • avoid exposure to pollution or chemical fumes
  • don’t engage in activities that might put a strain on your chest muscles or the surgical incision
  • don’t smoke
  • take care of your incision wound as you were instructed
  • take your pain medicine as you were instructed
