What precautions should I consider after the prostatectomy surgery?
We expect patients to recover pretty quickly following this surgery. Nonetheless, you will have some limitations once you are discharged.
During your recovery period, you should avoid vigorous activities and lifting anything that is heavier than 10 pounds. Driving should also be avoided as long as the catheter is still in place.
The average recovery period is 2-3 weeks after laparoscopic prostatectomy. During this period, it’s important to follow your doctor’s recommendations and get plenty of rest so that you can heal faster. Your doctor will also tell you when your follow-up appointment should take place following this intervention. Make sure you don’t postpone or cancel it as during this meeting your doctor will evaluate the success of your surgery.
