What is the difference between an aesthetician and a dermatologist?

The main difference is the training they received and the qualification to perform one treatment or another.

The dermatologist is a medical doctor, while the aesthetician does not have legal qualifications to perform medical treatments.

While aestheticians may be licensed to give you a simple facial, a dermatologist will have the knowledge, the ability, and the legal qualification to perform medical treatments.

Procedures that require a more invasive medical approach are done by a dermatologist or under a dermatologist's supervision.
