What is plastic surgery?
Plastic surgery is a type of surgery specialized in restoring, reconstructing and modifying the human body.
Plastic surgery, just as much as any plastic art, is an art in itself. The plastic surgeon applies artistic principles of shaping the body more than any other medical professional. The main purpose of this profession is to shape anatomical parts according to esthetic principles, just as a sculptor would shape his statues, keeping the perfection as close to the natural as possible, repairing where nature made mistakes by beautifying a congenital birth defect or by reconstructing a shape, which has been damaged by some unfortunate event.
The products used for cosmetic purposes or to repair damaged tissues are in most cases either collected from other parts of the body or from other people or by adding or implanting biologically-friendly products made from medically accepted materials, in most cases silicone gel.
