What is an aesthetician?

Estheticians are professionals who specialize in the beautification of the skin. They are not medical professionals per se.

Specializing in the beautification of the skin, estheticians are licensed health and wellness professionals who commonly perform a wide range of procedures to the skin in order to maintain health and vitality, improve the overall appearance and reduce the detrimental effects of sun exposure and aging.

These procedures include sugar scrubs, facials, body wraps, pore cleansing, aromatherapy, makeup application, light therapy, moisturizing treatments, and hair removal. However, since they are not medical professionals, unlike dermatologists, they cannot diagnose or treat skin conditions.
