What are the common signs of pulmonary diseases?

Each pulmonary disease has specific symptoms, which range in intensity depending on the severity of the condition. However, there are some symptoms that all lung diseases have in common.

Pulmonary disease can be non-malignant, such as asthma, bronchitis or pulmonary fibrosis, and malignant, such as lung cancer. Although the symptoms of each pulmonary disease are different, there are certain signs you should look for if you suspect you suffer from a disease that affects your lungs. The following are the most common symptoms of pulmonary disease:

  • chest pain
  • difficulty breathing
  • hoarseness
  • wheezing
  • shortness of breath
  • coughing
  • nail clubbing
  • chest tightness
  • fatigue
