What aftercare recommendations will I receive after congenital cardiac surgery?
Before the discharge, we will provide you with all the necessary aftercare recommendations that apply to a congenital heart surgery.
Don’t be afraid of the pain felt in the aftermath of the surgery; it is a normal consequence. An important factor in optimizing the congenital cardiac surgery’s effect is rest. Make sure you/your child, get plenty of it in the first week following surgery.
Strenuous physical activity and sport should be avoided for a month after the intervention. Activities that involve pushing or pulling the arms should also be avoided.
If your child was operated, don’t pull his arms or lift him by the arms or from the armpit after the operation. Your doctor will let you know what activities you can resume during your follow up visits.
