Is it healthy to wake up at night to urinate?

While it is normal to wake up to urinate at night, if it occurs twice or more on a regular basis, you may be suffering from a condition medically known as nocturia.

Depending on your liquids intake before going to bed, you may wake up to urinate, which is completely normal, since your bladder will be full.

However, if you do not drink a lot of liquids before going to sleep, yet you wake up twice or more often to urine during the night, you may have nocturia, a medical condition that is treatable.

If you struggle with frequent urination at night, please seek medical attention. A urologist will carefully examine you and subsequently prescribe you the most effective treatment.
