How will I feel after ESWL?

Your doctor will tell you more about the potential outcome of this therapy during your initial consultation.

It is normal to experience some degree of pain after this procedure. It will subside during the following days. Most patients feel a sensation of soreness for the first couple of days after ESWL.

A low fever is also common following this procedure and should not worry you. However, if the fever exceeds 101°F, you should call your doctor as you might be at risk of infection.

Blood in the urine is also a common side effect that should not scare you. It can last for several days up to several weeks after the therapy.
