How to prepare my child for the adenoidectomy procedure?
Your doctor will tell you how to prepare your child for this procedure and you must follow his instructions.
Generally, it is advised that you do not give your child any medicine with blood-thinning properties a week before the surgery unless your doctor instructs you otherwise. Such medicines include aspirin and ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin).
Your child should not have anything to drink or eat after midnight the day before the surgery. This includes water.
You will also be informed regarding the medicine your child is supposed to take on the day of surgery. It should be taken with a sip of water.
