How soon do I have to see my doctor again after a mitral valve repair surgery?
Before you leave the hospital after this surgery, you will be told when you should have your first follow-up appointment.
You will need follow-up care after this intervention. The purpose of the follow-up visit is to help your doctor asses your postoperative state and understand how well the surgery worked. During these visits, you will talk to your doctor about your current symptoms and receive specific guidelines based on how you recover. Your first appointment will take place around 4-6 weeks after the surgery. Don’t postpone or cancel this meeting because it plays an important role in evaluating the surgery’s outcome and aiding your recovery.
