How long will my procedure take?

The length of the procedure depends on a few aspects such as the type of the surgery (what you are having done), on your anatomy and constitution, on your current health condition, and on the extent of the surgery. Each of these aspects can lessen or increase the time allocated to robotic surgery. A simple hysterectomy takes about an hour.

If you need lymph nodes removed as well, this can take an additional 1 to 1.5 hours. For a radical hysterectomy, we need 3 to 4 hours. For prostatectomy typically it takes 2.5 to 3 hours depending on the size of the prostate. Speaking about bariatric surgery the lap-band surgery usually takes about one hour, gastric sleeve and laparoscopic gastric bypass take approximately 1.5 hours.

It also requires about 30 to 45 min of additional time while you will be put to sleep by the anesthesiologist and you are properly positioned for the procedure. We need to mention that unusual circumstances might occur, which can increase the required time. As time varies depending on the type of the surgery we recommend that you ask your surgical specialist for an estimated time for your procedure.
