Can I continue to be active after foot/ankle surgery?

You will need time to heal after the intervention. Your feet and ankles should no bear any weight following the surgery. Your doctor will tell you what activities you may perform after you are discharged.

After your discharge following foot and ankle surgery, you will probably be required to wear a cast or splint which will not allow you to walk. You will be able to resume your activity gradually.

After each follow-up visit, your doctor will be able to tell you what activities you may perform. During the follow-up appointment, you will also have the cast or the splint changed. Your doctor will let you know how you can increase your activity based on how well you have recovered.

Your ability to bear weight will be gradually increased.
